First Aid Level 1 Revalidation (Refresher) Classroom course
According to WorkSafe regulations, it is advised that first aiders undergo revalidation (refresher) training every two years to maintain their certification and stay up-to-date with current practices. This refresher training is appropriate for renewing your First Aid Level 1 Foundation First Aid Certificate (Unit Standards 6401 and 6402).
Description
There are two parts to this face-to-face course:
Part 1: The in-person practical session: New Zealand Resuscitation Council approved Emergency Care Instructors will take participants through a mixture of theory and practical applications, and address any queries participants may have, as they guide them through a refresher of their first aid management skills.
Part 2: The assessment: Completed on the same day, there will be practical assessments to ensure that the participant is able to demonstrate the right skills to respond in a simulated accident or emergency. Unit Standards will not be awarded upon completion of refresher courses.
In total, the practical training and assessment should take 6 hours.
Where the course can be completed onsite, trainers will adapt scenario-based activities to the workplace.
Prerequisites
- Each participant is required to bring photographic identification (e.g. a passport or driver's licence or 18+ Card) for proof of ID.
- Please arrive before or at the course time for a prompt start - late arrivals after the course time will be unable to attend on the day and required to rebook at a later date.
For First Aid Refresher Training, the participant must have a current certificate. Refresher training is recommended to take place before the expiration of the first aid certificate. However, there is a three-month grace period after expiry during which learners can complete this training.
Failure to undergo refresher training before the certificate expires or during the grace period will require the participant to retake first aid training and assessment for the unit standard(s) in order to obtain a new certificate.
Physical requirements: Participants need to be able to kneel on the floor to do CPR.
Language requirements: Participants must be able to complete the assessment in English.
